Deep dive into the tragedy that increased vigilantism as a way to diminish gun laws, the trial of Bernard Goetz, a.k.a. the Subway Shooter. On December 22, 1984, Goetz entered the 14th Street Station and exited through the tunnels of Chambers Street as he escaped the scene of a shooting of black teenagers on a New York subway train.
Goetz permanently altered Darryl Cabey's spinal cord with a second fire and avoided paying Cabey for his lost civil lawsuit. Goetz still lives in New York and ran for Mayor in the early 2000s on a campaign to Make America Great Again, which championed Donald Trump to rebuild the Twin Towers after 9/11.
